Welcome to the Blog


I grew up with a father who was clever and industrious.  He grew up all over the world in places like Cuba and Portugal, since his dad worked for the international division of Goodyear Tire and Rubber.  He learned at a young age how to fix and repair homes, appliances, cars, and many other things with few resources and a lot of ingenuity. Of course, as his kid, I got sucked in and he would have me do some of the difficult stuff like climbing in small spaces where only a small person could go, and painting on top of places he didn’t want to climb.  My father was a teacher, so we rarely spent money on new tools. I can remember foraging through boxes of screws just to find four or five screws that matched. Today, that’s all different. Technology has made construction a lot easier.  


I’ve been in the commercial real estate game since 1986.  I worked as a successful commercial real estate broker for The Seeley Company which is now Colliers International for approximately seven years after graduating from college at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.  While at The Seeley Company I worked on numerous deals including a 200,000 square foot build to suit office building, a 125,000 square foot tenant improvement R&D facility, and a 50,000 square foot tenant improvement repair facility for a worldwide Japanese tech company.  I handled various corporate clients and local ones also. I sold a number of industrial buildings and investment properties including one of the largest multi-storage facilities in Southern California at the time along with a few R&D leases, office leases, and land sales.


I’ve been in the construction side of the real estate business for over twenty years.  I’ve run all aspects of the business including working hands on in the field, handling the administrative and legal side of the business, and of course estimating and project managing the projects.  I managed on average 150 construction projects per year for many years, so I’ve seen a lot. I am proficient at reading blueprints, have built my current house that I reside in, and can do or handle almost any aspect of construction.


This blog is intended to educate people interested in knowing more about construction.  Our focus of business is mainly on tenant improvements, renovations, and capital improvements.  My hope is that it provides insight and helps to grow someone’s knowledge in an enjoyable way.
